Trezor Login® — Starting Up Your Device

A concise, secure walkthrough to power on, initialize, and configure your Trezor hardware wallet.

Quick start — what to expect

This guide assumes you have a genuine Trezor device (Model T or Model One), the original USB cable, and a safe place to store your recovery seed. Follow the official flow at Trezor.io/start.

Step-by-step setup

1
Unbox & inspect
Confirm the package seal and included recovery card. Only continue if the packaging is intact and the device was purchased from an authorized seller.
2
Connect and power on
Use the supplied cable to connect the Trezor to your computer. Visit trezor.io/start or open Trezor Suite. The hardware screen will display a welcome message — confirm visually that the device shows the official Trezor logo.
3
Install firmware (if prompted)
If firmware is missing or outdated, the official site will prompt you to install it. Approve updates only on the physical device. Do not interrupt the process.
4
Create or recover wallet
Choose "Create new wallet" to generate a recovery seed on-device or "Recover wallet" to restore an existing seed. The seed will appear on the Trezor screen — write it down in order and verify when prompted.
5
Set device PIN
Choose a PIN entered via the device. This prevents unauthorized use if your Trezor is lost or stolen. The PIN must be entered each time the device is connected.
6
Optional: enable passphrase
Add a passphrase for an additional hidden wallet. Only enable this if you understand the risk: losing the passphrase is equivalent to losing access to funds.
7
Finalize & test
Add accounts in Trezor Suite, receive a small test amount, and verify transactions. Confirm every transaction detail on the device screen before approving.
